Under certain circumstances the factory rubber intake hose can deteriorate,  crack and even fall apart.  This then leads to potential running problems as non-filtered air gets into the fuel/air system.  Rather than a lengthy wait for a genuine hose from Brazil, we now have superb quality replacements available here in the UK.
